1 - Forever A Novice

We finally here, wish me luck…

The title of this post originally came from 2015 when I decided I wanted to get into Street Fighter 5 and become a streaming god (spoiler alert, I didn’t). The reason I chose it was due to the fact the 1000s hours needed to be elite tier like I watched on YouTube was not for me but I still enjoyed the grind enough to get good. Really I only had to be good enough to have fun playing it and beat my mates, I did the former and some mates would argue I still haven’t achieved the latter but since they aren’t the ones writing this, I am the best around.

Aight let’s get down to it, what I want you to get out of this post is an understanding of why this site exists, why I am writing and what I want to do going forward.

As always the best place to start is why.

Helping those around me is one of the things I always strive to do, in Sikhism there is the concept of “Seva” which is the act of selfless service, basically being a real one and helping people. Not groundbreaking I know but I always wanted to find a way to help people with something I was good at (or at least good enough at). For the last few years I developed an interest in personal finance, originally I wanted to make stacks on stacks on stacks, but it quickly changed. It became something I thoroughly enjoyed learning and what I learned I wanted everyone to know so they could be in the best position financially too and make their lives easier.

I spoke to enough people about it to the point I decided to write it all down so a) I don’t forget later down the line and b) it saves me talking for two hours when someone asks me for a chat, instead I can send them the doc. Personal finance had unknowingly become that thing that I could use to help others, so to increase my reach I decided to create a site! I do have other ideas and things I would like to talk about so expect more on here than just how to make fat stacks. I want to help people. The other half of my reasoning is purely selfish, I find it fun discussing these topics and want to challenge myself to do something new and out of my comfort zone - I’m already bricking it for the eventual (and ofc obligatory) Instagram/LinkedIn post plugging my new site and blog.

So who is this for?

My official answer: Those early in their career trying to be an adult and figuring out how to develop and grow themselves, as that’s basically what I’m doing too. I’m just over 2 years into working life so I thought why not share what I’ve learnt so far? It may or may not be common sense and those further along than me probably already know it, but I’ve always found it useful to speak to people in a similar situation who are a few months or years ahead of me. I would love for this to be a 2-way conversation with you engaging and commenting your own ideas and experiences because we can all learn from each other and regardless of who you are I want to learn from you!

(My real answer: Anyone who will read my posts)

So these are a 3 of the things I’m going to cover on this site:

  • Personal finance - the simple keys to financial stability and a rich life, creating the basic foundation that’ll remove it as a stress point in your life - aka make money your biiitch

  • Self improvement - how to become a boss aka topics to do with personal development and things you may want to think about that may help you.

  • Thoughts or things I wanted to put down to paper to start a convo about with others.

I hope these topics pique your interest as they do me! I by no means have all the answers to those topics above but what I’ve always enjoyed is conversations with likeminded peers where I learn and become inspired and hopefully vice versa. Thats what I’m trying to do with this site, take that conversation and expand it to encompass those I can’t talk to irl. The title of this site and first post encapsulates more than just what I thought I’d be in Street Fighter, it really defines my mindset trying to get through life and growing up. To summarise I’m always learning and want to share to help others in a similar situation.

Even as I write this I’m not even sure what the final name of the site is yet (I decided before publishing the site) but I’m both excited and nervous. Thanks for reading if you made it to the end, hit me up to let me know what you think!

Stay safe,

Tally

P.S. do people my age even read blogs XD Idk but yolo.
